WWE Wrestle Mania Results..

For the first time in event history, the seventh THQ/WWE Superstar Videogame Challenge will be incorporated into WWE’s WrestleMania Axxess, the premiere interactive experience for the WWE Universe, Friday, April 3 at Reliant Center in Houston.

Superstar Challenge will feature top WWE talent as they compete in a single elimination video game tournament featuring WWE Legends of WrestleMania for PLAYSTATION 3. With a brand new game to play, who will take home this year’s highly coveted Challenge trophy and attempt to relive, rewrite or redefine history?

Last year, former WWE star Elijah Burke became a two-time winner of the videogame tournament among WWE stars. In the THQ/WWE videogame WWE SmackDown! vs. Raw 2008, Burke (using Undertaker) defeated Kofi Kingston (using Jeff Hardy) in the finals.

Shelton Benjamin, who won the previous four videogame challenges, did not compete last year.

There is also an international/national fan version of the tournament. Darren Lavocah of Lester, England won last year’s fan competition.

• THQ announced new content for the SmackDown vs. RAW 2009 video game one day after its new Legends of WrestleMania game was released nationwide.

The new content package includes playable superstars Evan Bourne, Ted DiBiase, Charlie Haas and new ring gear for Chris Jericho.

The package is available only for the Xbox 360 at the Xbox LIVE Marketplace for320 points.

”The addition of downloadable content to the WWE SmackDown vs. Raw franchise is something our fans have requested for many years,” said Cory Ledesma, senior creative manager, THQ.

“With items such as playable superstars and new ring gear, consumers can broaden their game play experience and stay in step with WWE’s weekly television programming.”

• WWE announced the superstars who will be appearing during the seven sessions of WWE WrestleMania Axxess during WrestleMania 25 Weekend from Thursday, April 2- Sunday, April 5 at Reliant Center in Houston.

WWE stars John Cena, Rey Mysterio, Shawn Michaels, Edge, Triple H, JBL, Randy Orton, Big Show, Kane, MVP, Chris Jericho, Ric Flair, Batista, Afa the Wild Samoan and more are scheduled at various times. That can change.

• The Funk brothers, Terry and Dory Jr., will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame by Dusty Rhodes 6 p.m. Saturday, April 4 at the Toyota Center in Houston.

Stone Cold Steve Austin (by Mr. McMahon), The Von Erichs (by Freebird Michael Hayes), Cowboy Bill Watts (by Jim Ross), Koko B. Ware (by Honky Tonk Man), Howard Finkel (by Mean Gene Okerlund) and Ricky The Dragon Steamboat (by Ric Flair) are also being honored.

• Kid Rock and Pussycat Dolls lead singer Nicole Scherzinger will be the musical guests for WrestleMania 25 on Sunday, April 5 at Reliant Stadium in Houston.

Scherzinger will perform America The Beautiful to kick off the pay-per-view. Kid Rock will sing a medley of hits like Cowboy, Bawitdaba, Rock N Roll Jesus and So Hott.

WWE used some of Kid Rock’s songs for television broadcasts and theme songs in the past.

• The new weekly WWE television show Superstars will start 8 p.m. EST Thursday, April 16 on WGN America.

Expect Everything is the phrase used to promote the show which will feature superstars from RAW, SmackDown and WWE’s ECW including inter-promotional matches.

Jeff champ again

After years of chasing the gold that had eluded him his entire career, Jeff Hardy  defied the odds at Armageddon, winning the Triple Threat Match against Edge and Triple H to become the new WWE Champion – his first World Title.

In a hard-fought battle full of power from The Game, grit from the former champion Edge, and high-flying, fast-paced action from Hardy, it was the involvement of one of Hardy’s rivals, Vladimir Kozlov, and his own brother, Matt Hardy, that inadvertently helped him capture the title. When Kozlov interfered and pulled Triple H out of the ring, all hell broke loose, and in the end, after Matt rid the ringside area of Kozlov, The Game nailed Edge with a Pedigree – virtually sealing another golden win for himself. But Jeff ascended the top rope and delivered a career-changing Swanton Bomb to earn the victory and the gold.

While Jeff had heard over the past few months from the likes of   SmackDown GM Vickie Guerrero, Triple H and even Edge that he could never win the big one, Hardy proved all the doubters wrong in front of the raucous WWE Universe in Buffalo – all who stood and cheered in approval of Jeff’s historic win.

Jeff and his brother,ECW  Champion Matt Hardy, have made history, as both are World Champions at the same time, cementing their legacies during their tenures in WWE, and putting an exclamation point on their seven World Tag Team Title reigns.
